January 31, 2011 a leading Turkish “Milliyet” newspaper published on its front page a shocking interview by Professor Elchin Khalilov on forecasting of strong earthquakes for Turkey and the bordering countries. The interview was later reprinted by many of the leading Turkish media.

As reported by the President of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes Prof. Elchin Khalilov, another strong earthquake forecast has been confirmed.

2011 began with a series of strong earthquakes: on January 01 with a magnitude of 7.0 in the Santiago del Estero province (Argentina), on January 02 with a magnitude of 7.1 and on January 10 with a magnitude 6.0 off the coast of central Chile, on January 12 with a magnitude of 6.5 near the Japanese Bonin Islands, on January 18 with a magnitude of 7.2 in the Pakistan.

This has been communicated by the press service of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes (GNFE) headquartered in London, UK. Professor Elchin Khalilov, GNFE President, has commented on the forecast of the strong earthquake in Iran.

Since the beginning of 2010, our planet has been witnessing intensification of many natural disasters: strong earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, landslides, huge sinkholes, etc. This fact cannot but alarm ordinary people and governments of various countries alike.

WOSCO Information Agency has interviewed the President of the Global Network for the Forecasting of Earthquakes (GNFE) Prof. Elchin Khalilov, asking him to comment on the forecast of the disastrous earthquake which occurred in China on April 13th, 2010.
